Mind-Body Connection!
Growing up in India, I was immersed in the rich traditions of yoga and mindfulness from an early age. This foundational experience has shaped my lifelong journey in holistic health and personal development. I have had the privilege of studying under esteemed Indian yoga masters and prominent international teachers, deepening my understanding and practice through extensive training in the U.S.
My qualifications include Therapeutic Yoga training at Duke University Integrative Medicine, certification in Mindfulness Meditation from UC Berkeley's Greater Good Science Center, and graduate-level studies in spirituality at the Sati Center. Additionally, I am a Certified Grief Educator through David Kessler and a Certified Professional Coach recognized by the International Association of Professional Recovery Coaches.
Over the years, I have collaborated with various esteemed organizations, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH), the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, DC, and the Virginia Hospital Center. My experience spans leading multi-day residential retreats for adults and adolescents, as well as providing one-on-one support to individuals seeking insights through mindfulness, therapeutic breath work, and somatic awareness. My diverse clientele ranges from healthcare professionals to yoga instructors, all benefiting from my holistic approach.
Currently, I divide my time as a Hospital Chaplain at UT Southwestern, where I support patients and families, and as an educator in yoga and mindfulness practices. I am also honored to teach with the Insight Meditation Community of Washington DC and Inward Bound Mindfulness Education. Having lived in three countries with distinct cultures, I am passionate about connecting with individuals from varied backgrounds, fostering a sense of community and understanding through mindfulness and compassion.
The role of stress!
According to Stanton et al., “ Stress alters mesolimbic reward processing in humans and animals, and these changes are linked to anhedonic behavior.”
